INTRODUCTION


Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Cantonment General Hospital is a 100 bedded hospital run by Pune Cantonment Board. It is located opposite Golibar Maidan and the PCB building on Shankar Seth Road, Pune 411 001. It provides medical care  to the residents of Pune Cantonment.


This hospital started providing medical services in OPD building donated by Maneckji Mehta in the year 1928. Subsequently Labour Room and Labour Ward were added in 1934, 1935 and 1937 with the donations from generous people.


The present new hospital building was constructed in 1987 and ancillary facilities like new Labour Room and  Special Room Block, lift, Canteen, bridge-connecting wards to OPD were added in 1999.
OPD and indoor medical services are backed up by the basic Lab facilities, X-Ray, ECG and Sonography. Various  National Health programs including family welfare and immunization programs are carried out by SVP CGH.


EXISTING FACILITIES AND RESOURCES.

1. Inpatient Bed Distribution:

The distribution of 100 indoor patient beds is as follows:

a. Male Ward23 Beds (21 general and 2 private)
b. Female Ward 23 Beds (21 general and 2 private)
c. Children Ward 16 Beds
d. Maternity Ward 26 Beds
e. Infectious Diseases Ward 12 Beds

2. Facilities Available at the Hospital.

(a) Twenty Four Hours Emergency / Casualty services.

A duty doctor and nursing staff are available round the clock for emergency first aid, admission and management of patients. Decision of transfer of patients to bigger hospitals, whenever necessary, are made at this point. Necessary emergency medical equipment is kept in Casualty department. On an average 1500 patients are examined in the emergency room each month.

(b) Daily O.P.D. Services.
AMOs conduct male, female, children and Gynaec OPDs in the hospital from 8:30 to 1:30 pm.

Parmar Dispensary

Peripheral dispensaries viz. Market Dispensary, Parmar Dispensary and Ghorpuri Dispensary conduct OPDs in the morning 8:30 am to 11.30 am and in the evening 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Specialist OPDs are conducted in the OPD Complex by visiting honorary Doctors, for e.g. Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedic, Eye, ENT, Ayurveda and Homeopathy.

Free Screening facilities for cancer detection in women are available in SVP CGH where a Doctor from NGO (Care India) provides the services and carry out necessary tests
