Renovation to Shivaji Market

Shivaji Market was built by the British in the year 1885 and it is one of the heritage structure of this Board.

To put in proper use it was decided to upgrade the market rather than demolish it. Since the structure is in a good shape it was decided to renovate the market. Its importance lies in its simplicity, familiarity, central location and the subtle references to the multi-ethnic community that lives around the market. The renovation will be carried under the guidance of heritage architect. INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art, Culture and Heritage) Committee is appointed for the same.
