Inpatient Marijuana Rehab Centers Pasadena CA 91188: Tips to find the most adequate centers in the US

Marijuana is considered to be the most illicit drug used in the United States of America, according to National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). NIDA also reported that approximately 9 per cent of people who regularly abuse marijuana will gradually get addicted to the drug. Teenagers are very much prone to Marijuana addiction. In teens the risk of addiction rises to 17 percent and it rises to 25-50 percent for those who abuse marijuana regularly. That is important when it comes to finding the best Marijuana Addiction Rehab Centers.

The US Department of Health and Human Services states that one in every 11 marijuana users will become addicted.

Marijuana consists of THC, which is a mind altering ingredient. When one abuses marijuana, the THC enters the bloodstream and targets the brain. Certain brain cells that influence memory, coordination, thought process, sensory perception are targeted.

According to the Office of Alcohol and Drug Education, “addiction is likely both physical and psychological. When physically addicted, your body craves the drug. When psychologically addicted, you consciously desire the drug’s effects.’’

Symptoms of marijuana addiction are similar to any other drug addiction.

They are:

  • Irritability
  • Restlessness
  • Deep craving for marijuana which can even disturb their sleep
  • Tolerance for the drug
  • Disengagement from friends and family
  • Withdrawal symptoms

Who requires a treatment?

People who get enrolled in marijuana treatment programs have been using the drug for at least 10 years and it could be possible that they must have tried to quit using the drug several times.

It is reported that in the year 2010 about 353,000 people were admitted to treatment centers. Latest reports from January 2014 to January 2015 shows that the treatment centers received 3, 572 calls for synthetic marijuana and there were also reports of 15 deaths related to marijuana addiction. How is marijuana addiction treated?

The most common treatment of marijuana addiction is therapy.

An analysis in the journal Addiction Science and Clinical Practice says, “Therapy can also provide problem-solving skills and lifestyle management, so people can learn how to build a satisfying life that doesn’t need augmentation with drugs. As a relapse skill, therapists might also provide lessons on drug refusal, so people know just what to say and how to react when they’re offered a hit of weed.”

Treatment for addiction may also include counseling which will help the person to cope with other coexisting addictions and psychiatric problems too. That is really important when it comes to Inpatient Marijuana Rehab Centers Pasadena CA 91188.

Change your environment – one of the best ways to maintain a healthy recovery is to replace your bad habits with healthy, new ones. Surround yourself with positive people, things and experiences. Search out cultural events and activities in your area that can stimulate your body and mind in a new, exciting – and healthy way.

The new wave of support – blogging communities. What has helped me the most is a blogging community of other parents. It developed spontaneously and is nothing “official”, we are a group of parents who randomly found each other via blogs. I’ve learned more from them, and gained more support from them, than any other source. We may not always agree with each other, but hearing their stories and words of wisdom has been invaluable. Please feel free to visit my blog, Recovery Happens, and join in the conversation there. (I have a list of blogs that will connect you with this great group of people from all over the country.) You need to take care of yourself during this time; your own heath and well being are at stake.

Pay attention to their “cycle”. The most important thing to know is that heroin is highly addictive and creates a physical dependence. In other words, when using becomes habitual, the body needs more and more of the drug to get high and at some point its needed just to feel “normal”. An addict who does not get his daily dose of opiates will begin to suffer “dope sickness” which causes pain in the muscles, “crawling skin”, vomiting, diarrhea, insomnia, sweats, and more. I’ve seen my son suffer through this several times and it’s torturous. Addicts avoid dope sickness at all costs and become desperate to get their hands on more heroin to keep themselves from getting sick. This is often when illegal or immoral activities come into play.

Outpatient treatment. Even with education and the realization that they are hurting themselves by abusing alcohol, many patients still can’t stop drinking on their own. The psychological dependence on the drug makes them believe that they can’t function or enjoy themselves without binge drinking when they go out or they use it to deal with stress and other difficult emotions. Outpatient alcohol treatment can help them to get the therapy they need as well as regular support and guidance so they can begin to practice abstinence successfully.

Talk to your family. Open communication with family, is an effective way of ensuring that you make healthy choices after treatment. Let your family know how you are feeling. Maybe you are bored or lonely or stressed. All feelings, including the good ones, can trigger a relapse. By talking with your family, you are not only developing this relationship but with support from them, you will make sound, healthier decisions.

Celebrate your accomplishments. It’s also vitally important for boosting your self-esteem after drug rehab that you celebrate all of your accomplishments. Big or small, it doesn’t matter, as long as you take the time to acknowledge what you have achieved according to your recovery plan. A good tip is to revisit your goals frequently, revising them as needed. A recovery plan isn’t static. It grows as we grow and evolves as we do. This also helps with forward momentum, and with increasing our reservoir of self-esteem.

Do That. It’s enough work to take the time to discuss in detail what exactly is going to be expected of you by your family and friends, but now you have to actually follow through on it. You beat the habit of drinking or using drugs, and now is the time to change your other habits in terms of how you relate to people, how you handle your obligations, what you do for them and more. The people you spoke with may have been duly impressed that you were interested in what they thought and wanted to take their expectations into consideration, but what will really impress them, and help you cement stable relationships, is if you follow through on what you said you would do, now and in the long term.

Learn how to take care of yourself. Following treatment for drug or alcohol abuse, we know it’s important that we take care of our physical and mental health. For some of us, this is an ongoing and painful process, especially in the early weeks and months of recovery. We learned during treatment, for example, how important balance is in our lives: physical, psychological and emotional. This may mean that we need to get our bodies back in good medical condition after too long a time in addiction. It may mean that we need to end a self-destructive relationship or change jobs or move to a new environment. In all cases it means creating healthier lifestyle choices for ourselves and then adhering to them. This is all part of the growth process and is an integral part of rebuilding your self-esteem after drug rehab.

Drink lots of fluids that contain electrolytes. Many alcoholics suffer from dehydration and nausea during withdrawals. Drinking lots of fluids, especially fluids with electrolytes will help to combat this.

No “negative enabling.” Do not engage in “negative enabling.” Negative enabling is a term that refers to giving an active opiate addict some form of resource that allows the addict to progress in addiction. The two most common forms of negative enabling I see are giving an opiate addict money or a place to live. It also includes any form of resource, like transportation, that allows an opiate addict to maintain the lifestyle.

Be kind to yourself. In the past, you’ve likely beaten yourself up over misdeeds you’ve committed under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but it’s important to realize that those feelings are perfectly normal and happen to almost everyone in early recovery. It’s OK if you don’t succeed at the first try in everything you attempt.

Do Not Enable Them. It’s only natural to want to help our loved ones, but an addict can take advantage of that. It’s so tempting to help them out if they are behind on rent or need groceries. All you are doing is allowing them to spend their own money on their addiction. Also, to the extent that it’s possible, don’t interact with them when they are drunk or high. Spending time with an addict when they aren’t sober sends the message that you think their behavior is okay, or at the very least, aren’t bothered by it.

Overcome denial. There are many addiction signs and symptoms, but you only have to be aware of one – and that is – you growing tolerance for substances or problem activities. If you get pass denial and embrace the fact the you have become dependent upon these activities, you will be amazed how easily you can think solutions to your problem.

Speak to the alcoholic with love, caring, and respect, not with anger. By lashing out at an alcoholic, you’re less likely to convince him or her to quit drinking and more likely to put them on the defensive.
